The sense of community in the airbrushing scene was put to the test this year, as everywhere else: The popular shows, trade fairs, workshops and meetings around the world have been cancelled – starting with the Wonderworld of Airbrush in Rosmalen/NL, the Fantasy World of Airbrush in Grefrath/GER, the Festival d’Aerographie in Thionville/F, even the SEMA Show in Las Vegas/USA, up to the many small regional airbrushing meetings.

For 3 years the Airbrush Artist Day on October 6th has been being the international celebration day of the airbrush industry. With parties and meetings of artists from all over the world, workshop events and promotions of specialist dealers, the day has been celebrated under the motto „Be part of this passion called airbrushing! – from South America, Australia, the USA, Spain, Germany to Scandinavia.

To give the community a safe place to celebrate, share and be creative on this day, even in times of COVID-19, Airbrush Step by Step created a Facebook event page where live videos, chats, pictures and messages can be shared. Artists are welcome to post their virtual activities as well as congratulations, greetings and artworks. Airbrush Step by Step is also planning live chats, voting and a competition on this page. So be sure to visit https://www.facebook.com/events/912876975879833 on October 6, 2020 or visit www.airbrushartistday.com!

The Airbrush Artist Day was first initiated in 2017 by a group of passionate airbrush artists from South America. The date and the basis for this special day were provided by the US artist Gerald Mendez and his British colleague Andrew Penaluna: In historical documents from the time when the airbrush technique originated, they found out that the name „Air Brush“ was first documented on October 6, 1883 in Rockford, Illinois, USA. As „Air Brush Manufacturing Company“, the entrepreneurs Charles and Liberty Walkup henceforth focused on the production of the – at that time – new product, whose predecessor models were still called paint distributors.
