After we had asked Thomas Kunert to write an article about 3D printing and the airbrush (see Part 1 in our 02/20 issue), he thought long and hard about what model could be most suitable for this topic. He wanted to do as much as possible with the airbrush and then just finish up the final details with a paintbrush. So, it had to be a model that would feature a lot of flat surface and where he could do a lot of progressions. He decided on Iron Man. In addition, he didn’t want to be painting it with just your classic metal paints, but rather something that included non-metallic metal effects. This made this painting gig quite the challenge for Thomas, one that taught him a lot.
