The World Bodypainting Community did not let the Corona pandemic get them down and even in the hardest times celebrated the internationally known festival in Austria. After its brilliant 25th anniversary last year with a huge line-up of stars and live music acts, the World Bodypainting Festival 2023 will now focus more on bodypainting art again and expand its focus on visual art forms, according to organizers. The „Next Generation of the „World Bodypainting Festival“ will meet this year from September 26 to 30 in the Klagenfurt Messe Arena and thus not only changes from high summer almost into autumn, but also changes its location, from the „open air“ Goethepark to the „indoor“ exhibition hall.
The actual festival on the exhibition grounds will take place on Friday and Saturday, 29/30 September, during which the various competitions for the World and Special Awards will be created and presented. Artists will compete in the categories Brush/Sponge, UV Effects, Open Category (which also includes Airbrush and SFX), Face Painting, Team Show, Special Effects Make-up and Creative Make-up. A special highlight is also the World Award Camouflage Bodypainting on Thursday, where the artists make their models „disappear“ in the backdrops of the city of Klagenfurt at various locations. On the weekdays before, an extensive workshop program of the WB Academy offers artists the opportunity to learn the various body painting techniques from international professionals. Parallel to this, there will be the two online awards Brush/Sponge and Open Category, in which artists can participate from home.
Visitor tickets for the two main festival days are available on site at a price of 10 euros. In addition, there are other special tickets, e.g. multi-day tickets, for the party event Body Circus, for photo licenses and trade visitors, box seats with catering, etc.
