The Airbrush Artist Day was first initiated in 2017 by a group of passionate airbrush artists from South America. The date and the basis for this special day were provided by the US artist Gerald Mendez and his British colleague Andrew Penaluna: In historical documents from the time when the airbrush technique originated, they found out that the name „Air Brush“ was first documented on October 6, 1883 in Rockford, Illinois, USA. As „Air Brush Manufacturing Company“, the entrepreneurs Charles and Liberty Walkup henceforth focused on the production of the – at that time – new product, whose predecessor models were still called paint distributors.
